Barbara Whitestone founded her own company, Organizational Common Sense, a personal service management company in 1978.  She operated this business for over 20 years, primarily working with people in the rock 'n roll industry. She has served on the boards of Seeds of Change, Eco-Management, The Adopt A Grandparent Program and was the Executive Director of the Furthur Foundation for 13 years.  She has also worked as a Conference Staff Member of the Bioneers for the past 18 years.
Traveling extensively  in Bali, Eqypt, Thailand, Mexico, USSR, Costa Rica, Brazil, India, Nepal and other countries, she spent the majority of that time interacting and living with indigenous cultures.
After 28 years in California, in 2006 she moved to Arroyo Seco, outside of Taos, New Mexico to delve deeper into continuing the creation of a body of artwork "Altar Consciousness" in fine art Hand-Cut Collage & 3 Dimensional Collage Assemblage.

"Having spent a majority of my life in the world of business, the opportunity to create a paradigm shift in the business model, through visioning  and birthing "The Kangaroo Girls" from the ground up as a sustainable, green, community based partnership with Gail, fulfills a lifelong dream come true."

Gail Russell, photo artist, is originally from Connecticut and has lived in her home overlooking the Arroyo Hondo Valley in New Mexico for over 30 years. She lives with Maya the green wing macaw, Lily the courageous dog, and Lincoln, the cat therapist.
Her photographs have won awards, been seen in galleries and museums, been featured on the pages of magazines, hung in national and regional shows, and graced the walls in the homes of collectors. She is a member of Las Comadres Gallery, a women’s cooperative in Taos, New Mexico, and a featured artist at Great Western Art Gallery in Denver, Colorado.
In 1987 Gail, with Lakota elder Nellie Red Owl, founded The Adopt Grandparent Program, a non-profit program that helped elders in need on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota and Native Elders in Northern New Mexico. In 2001 she retired from the program after administering it for 15 years and then passing it on to an organization in Wisconsin.

“I have often felt that I am a “Closet Fashion Designer”. The Kangaroo Girls gives me an opportunity to open that door and begin an adventure experimenting with living/working in alignment with my values and beliefs. It has been inspiring, hard work, and many other excellent things, partnering with my long time friend, Barbara, on this project.”
